Author: Zita Christian
Average review score:

Disney studios take note...
A beautiful, heartwarming story with a strong heroine and a hero with heart that does more than just flex his muscles. I especially enjoyed the weaving of old German folklore and the way Ms. Christian created characters that I would like to meet in person. Could not put this one down!

Average review score:

A good selection of mainly English names.
A small book with over 1500 first names, their meanings and origins. Also provides pronunciation guideance and explains the most common Sikh, Hindu, Muslim, Afro-caribbean and European names. A good range of names, listed alphabetically and a popularity table (for England and Wales!). Overall very useful!

First-Year Sobriety
Excellent book for people with either short or long term sobriety. The content is very realistic and I believe that anyone will find a story or two in here that will relate to them. Has helped me much. Also a good book to hold onto for future reference.

Fantastic story infused with the mystical and the mysterious
I think this is one of her best. It has romance, mystical aspects, and a mystery. The characters are so believable that one is drawn in without effort. It's one that I enjoy reading again and again, and again....

Fossil Collecting in Pennsylvania (Bulletin G, 40.)
Published in Paperback by Commonwealth of Pennsylvania (June, 1983)
Authors: Donald M. Hoskins, Jon D. Inners, and John A. Harper
Average review score:

The definitive guide has lost little after several decades
Get this book.

If you have it, or an extra copy, know that there is a market for those who are willing to sell.

The sites listed in the book are good. But even better, the descriptions of the basic elements of the activity are such so that a novice can handle the instruction and grab hold of fossil collecting as a hobby.

I bought an edition that did not turn out to be the latest, and was thrilled to actually learn more about 'old' (read 'lost') sites for fossil collecting.

The best for PA, and I have not found a comparable guide for any other state.

Free Enterprise
Published in Hardcover by E P Dutton (September, 1993)
Author: Michelle Cliff
Average review score:

Catch it if you can
'Free Enterprise' is fabulous. There are many counterpoints in this novel which is filled with historical reconstructions. Catch this novel if you can, as soon as you can. It offers almost a perfect balance between historicity and creativity.

If you have some literary theory behind you then the novel is particularly suited to a postcolonial readng.

so you'll want to read the novel several times so as not to miss anything.

The novel presents a perfect balance between historicity and creativity. Catch it if you can.

Get Started With Microsoft Office 97!
Published in Software by Course Technology (June, 1999)
Authors: Jamie Harper, Course Technology, and A&T
Average review score:

Learn On Your Own
I did it by myself! By using this text and cd rom I was able to learn Microsoft Office programs with ease. There were great instructions, descriptions, explanations and exercises. I was able to review, practice and create as many times as I wanted in order to master the skills to use these programs. Of course, there is always more you can learn, but the basics are here! I recommend that you do ALL the Projects at the end of each section because each of them teaches you new skills and ways to use the program.

I am so excited about this way of learning! It is so easy and fun, you get immediate feedback, and can easily see the results of your learning. I like this book so much that I want to purchase it for my personal reference library. It is easy to find where you learned a particular skill so that you can access that information if you've forgotten how to do something.

I have learned how to write and edit a letter, make business cards, design a resume, write travel itineraries, use clip art and word art, make tables, use shading and borders, headers and footers, design letterhead, etc. And this is all in the Microsoft Word section. I am only beginning Excel and will follow with Access and Powerpoint. I will use Access to design and print a book for my students in much more efficient and easy-to-use manner.

I can't wait to learn these other three programs! Every day I am eager to come to the lab to learn more and wish I could come every day, but of course they are not open every day, so then I anxiously wait until the next day I can come in.

I will share this book information with many friends who use these programs but struggle because they have never learned how to do things the right (or easy) way. It is so rewarding to be able to do (or at least know about) all these applications. And the best part of this book is that you can go back and review any section any time you need to brush up on something. So if you don't get it all the first time around, you still have it available in a user-friendly, easy to understand and use application!

The Good Beer Guide to New York: Where to Find and Drink Good Beer in New York
Published in Paperback by Running Press (November, 1995)
Authors: Timothy Harper, Michael Jackson, and Crafts Brewers Guild
Average review score:

The Best Way to See New York: Through a Beer Glass
With its useful maps and anecdotal entries, this pocket-sized guide is the perfect companion for a day or a lifetime spent in the New York metropolitan area. It lists location, atmosphere, menu items, tap and bottled beer brands of all the important and some not so important watering holes in NYC and beyond. I never leave home without it. I am constantly making notes and additions to it though as it is slowly become dated. I only pray there is a revised edition on the way.
